you please let Abrahams know that Fiddes does not agree to my proposal that we should let the Government of India have silver against payment in India of as many rupees as it would coin into (or rupee securitisa equal in value). In these circumstances 1 am sorry to say that I do not see my way to proceeding further, as it does not seem likely that the Government of India would pay
us in India for our silver on the basis of the London quotation for silver. la silver being paid for in India and minted into rupees at a loss? If that is so, you might be able to offer us a premium, but not otherwise I think.
